Icon6 time for a new engine..

so after the original d16a6 that is in my '90 CRX Si blew up on the highway this weekend, i might need to put a whole new motor into it.

i've been reading up alot about different motors and swaps for a while now, and i'm thinking about either a b18a1, or i was thinking about an f20. both of those are cheaper motors and would be "easier" to swap over from my current setup.

other random swap ideas... 350 chevy small block, h22, k24, j32...

i plan on having this CRX forever. so eventually i want to strip it down and clean and paint it, inside and out. where it's not red will be black, and what is red will be a new coat of Rio Red. gotta keep it classy lol. either that or a full body kit and championship white..but i wanna POR the entire thing, and make it last forever.

to this day, i haven't driven anything else that i'd want that isn't uber expensive. CRX's are small and fast. and by putting a new motor in mine the power to weight ratio is gunna be nuts. loll

just thought of something random, what if i could gain power steering with the swap at the same time...

i mean, really i'd like to get a b18c1 but i'd have to go to OBD1 (i think) or OBD2.

also thinking about a motor that i could easily add a turbo setup to it later on the down the road.

i have an old d15 dpfi engine in a 89 civic hatch, but i don't even want to get into it, or downgrade the motor for my CRX.

basically looking for the cheapest easiest swap that would put out the most power.
bang for the buck mode, for sure.

this is my daily driver, so i don't need a crazy drag setup, just something i can run ~16 lbs of boost into eventually. lol

as for the original motor, i haven't dug into it really, but my buddy said that he found oil in spark plug number 2. so who knows what kinda seals are blown, or rods bent...

i'm in Michigan, so local stuff would be nice, but i'd rather not ship a whole motor and trans..

so yea, tons of ideas, what do you guys think?

A ls swap is easy you can use the same wire harness, get a b16 tranny and it will be a fun
car that still gets good mpgs. Did that to my si awhile ago with help old motor out new
motor in and driving in 6 hours ran low 15s low14s with a 75 shot.

I recommend going b20 over ls anyday. I went from a b18a with ctr pistons to a jdm b20b high comp and the torque / mid range is night and day. I have a b16 trans with ls 5th and I am getting 37 mpg hwy. Haven't been able to track it yet since Fontana Speedway is still shut down but yeah, good luck dude.
