01' CRV having a hard time starting
My V has been having a hard time starting in the last few weeks, especially when it's hot or when the car has been on for a while. Sometimes it takes 3-4 solid cranks before she'll turn.
When she does turn it starts at a very low idle, 3-4 hundred. After a few seconds it then jumps to where it should be 7-8 hundred when warm, 2-2.5K when a little more cool.
Seems like she's not getting enough fuel or air and something kicks in after 5 seconds or so and she's to normal.
I checked the fuel pressure and it's at 38-40psi when cranking. I though it was tight valves (motor was rebuilt about 30K miles ago so due for a adjustment).
Today I just finished valve adjustment, plugs and rotors. Cap looks good and NGK wires are 30K miles new.
Anybody else experience such issues?
Thx in advance for any solid advice.

Thx for the responses so far.
Dioxine-I don't smell any gas under the hood or inside so I don't believe injectors are leaking.
Skyline-Could be bad valves but I overhauled the motor less than 30K miles ago. At that time about 1/2 the valves were replaced w/ new ones (due to some being slightly bent) and all valve seals were replaced. Could still be a possibility...
Hopefully I can figure it out and when I do, will post.
Thx.

Do a compression check and a leak down on the fuel system since you have the gauge. You wont necessarily smell the gas as it will be down in the cylinders and coming out the exhaust or into the oil. Pull your dipstick and smell it for fuel. If you had it rebuilt less then 30k ago and you burnt up some valves then thats a shitty situation my friend :/
