Anything by DEI, Omega, even Scytek is good. How well you install it will make it last. Are you installing it yourself or will you have a shop do it for you? I have a Crime Guard 750i6 by Omega. If you want remote start then it's little more work but if you just want an alarm, it should be easy. If you are doing it yourself, go over to the12V website and read up. How fancy you want the system to do things depend on you. You could have the windows auto vent when it reaches a certain degree in your car. Like the Scytek or the megatronix window modules, will vent the windows for you when the temp inside of the car reach 100F. This is a useful feature during hot summer. Problem is, around my area, spiders get in your car.

If he installs it himself, would buying it from an authorized DEI dealer matter? I don't think you get any warranty at all if you install it yourself, even buying it from an authorized dealer right? Price is the deciding factor I would think.

Depends on dealer. I'll warranty the brains for my customers as long as they don't smoke the brains. Ie, reverse polarity the power wires.
