Default Can a bad main relay cause CEL codes 8 and 9 for distributor on '91 Accord?

After three distributors (granted Autozone Cardone) my spidey senses keep telling me to look elsewhere. After reading up I checked my main relay and sure enough I've got hairline cracks in the solder at two points. I'll be heading out to get a new soldering iron in a bit. But I wanted to see if I was on the right track here. It would either stumble a bit or eventually just quit all together. I could restart it fine but after enough driving it would do it again. It always seemed to start after about 40 miles of driving. Could a bad or weak connection in the main relay have caused CEL codes 8 and 9 and occasionally S codes 1278? Everything was so random and it didn't seem to matter which distributor I had in the car. My old coil and pick-ups actually tested fine too.

Relay is fixed and it's back to just stumbling and giving a CEL code 9.
