Default Lojack Coverage \ Alternative

Lojack doesn't have my state listed in their coverage.

http://www.lojack.com/dealer/pages/index.aspx

Now I don't understand how that impacts their system working. I assume that at least means I have to go to another state to have a 'Qualified Installer', but does that mean it won't work in my state? Or does that mean the law enforcement here does not have the hardware to use in conjunction?

I do like their systems, but are their other systems similar to theirs?

Hello,

My name is Jason from the LoJack Corporation. Thank you for considering LoJack. You are right, if there is no coverage in your state, police will not have the equipment to track your vehicle. However if your car was equipped with a LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System, and was stolen and entered an area where we do have coverage it would be trackable by police.

I suggest you give us a call to discuss your situation. 1-800-4-LOJACK (1-800-456-5225), and select option 3 for customer service. Press 3 again for product related questions and services. We can be reached Monday through Friday between 8am and 5pm EST.

Jason A.
LoJack Corporation

P.S. We do over 10,000 recoveries per year and maintain a 90% recovery rate on cars and trucks. Many of which involve Honda's. Take a look at a few featured stories here: http://www.autotheftblog.com/?s=honda

Jason I think your figures are off cause I know of 7 hondas last week that were stolen with lojack and were stripped. With the units still in the car unplugged. 3 are at my shop to be rebuilt. I can also post pictuers of installs that are horriable. I personaly have lojack in my car but I had to redo the install myself. Cause it was in a poor spot. A hour to install a unit right next to my spare tire? And your earliy warning system is a joke. I have a perrty expensive caddy xlr that my girl can take her transponder key to start the car. But forget her lojack key and I get a phone call 30 min later.

Op look into mobile iq unit or any unit made for the car enviroment that has gps tracking. lojack is a beakon that they have to drive around to find. Gps gives you the exact location of the car. And with most companies. You can follow the car in real time. Look at more options before deciding on lojack.

Their early warning system is what I was actually choose them for. But if you say it doesn't work well, then there isn't a point of getting it.

Then technology should not be this hard to develop. It seems by now there has to been a full proof way. Seriously...

if(Car.Gps.HasChange && Token.IsNotLocal){
call(Police.LocalNumber);
call(Owner);
throw new ExceptionPunchCurrentDriverInFace();
}

I sell the smart start. It has some really big flaws. Disconnect that battery and you figure out that one.
