squeaks from he rear!
alright on my buddies car 96 civic hatch he had a squeak coming from the rear, his struts were blown.. so we swapped them out with new ones and it still squeaks.. only n the rear and only on hard bumps.. ive narrowed it down to either the strut mounts.. not sure if possible or maybe his megan racing upper control arm/adjustable camber kit thing.. any help or opinions would be lovely.. im sitting ere looking at it while he b!tches..
This is going to sound out of left field but I had a squeak from the rear of my 2000 DX hatch and it was actually caused by the plastic trim on the OEM spoiler. I have the spoiler with the metal top/skin and the plastic body of the spoiler was sitting on the hatch glass. Over bumps the plastic would rub on the glass making loud squeaking noises.
On inspection of the spoiler the passenger side of the spoiler was sitting on the glass where as the driver side still had some clearance (Squeak was coming from passenger side).
In the end I picked up a few 1/4" inner diameter rubber washers and shimmed up each of the four studs that bolt the spoiler to the hatch.
I've had this fix for a few days now and no more spoiler squeaks. Rubber washers are holding up but if they start to deform I will go to nylon washers.
Again I know this is kind of random but it's certainly easier and cheaper to shim up your spoiler than to tear down and rebuild the suspension.
