Default D16Z6 (JDM D16A) check list confirmation PLEASE.

JDM D16A vtec OBD1 (sorry to repeat this, got no response from last post)

I will soon be installing this into a 1990 civic si. Been told it is equivalent to the USDM D16Z6. It will come with the P91 ecu. The car is being built with autocross in mind.

Here is my check list. Please add or make suggestions if you have any:

-- Rywirer OBDO to OBD1 package, which includes ecu jumper, distributor adapter, integrated vtec subharness

-- delete resistor box for OBD1 injectors. (Are the harness injector connections the same as OBD0?)

-- install new timing belt and water pump

-- use Si trannsmission (Is a lighter flywheel worth it?)

Here is where I am unsure…

Will the D16A6 engine mounts swap over? Should I splurge for Haasport mounts? I believe it will come with a MAP sensor attached to the throttle body. Anyone know? I believe it comes with a one wire O2 sensor. Are there any other sensors that my harness will not accommodate?

Pics will come later...

My responses are going to be in bold and itallics.

-- delete resistor box for OBD1 injectors. (Are the harness injector connections the same as OBD0?) No they are not, however you can re use your obd0 injectors no problem and keep the resistor box to simplify the swap.

-- use Si trannsmission (Is a lighter flywheel worth it?) I'm not sure about the fly wheel combo, i think that is user preference? i still use a stock replacement clutch and fly wheel, car rips just fine for me. I would recomend either taking apart your trans or having it serviced, our trannies are old and the input shaft bearings, diff bearings, spider gears, and various seals like to wear out, and while you're in there i'd go with a limited slip dif, will make autox better comming around corners to help fight wheel spin

Yes the a6 motor mount will swap over, you have to swap both the mount that bolts to the car and the post mount as well (the part that bolts to the block). do that when you're replacing your timing belt and water pump. I opted to keep stock mounts and bought energy suspensions poly urethane inserts that press into the stock motor mounts.
the obd1 vtec motor will actually come with a 4 wire o2 sensor, you will need rywire to adapt in the 4 wire o2 sensor plug while doing your conversion.
the map sensor on the throttle body will work just the same as the one on the fire wall, i use a throttle body mounted map sensor on my a6/z6 motor in my hatch, looks cleaner imo. the wires will reach just fine, although you may have to extend the purge solenoid wires (not hard to do) if you're keeping the charcoal canister.

hope this helps, good luck with your swap.

you're welcome let us know if you have any other questions. OH!! swap the water neck from your a6 onto your z6 (the one on the head) so you can use the stock upper radiator hose
