I am buying a 1994 honda accord lx for 300 off a friend.The car has a shifting problem ; it only shift into fourth gear. My brother thinks it's the shift linkage i haven't checked , but could that be the reason ? the car has 205,00 miles on it

 

Could be, or could be the clutch(Or hydraulics) or synchros.

 

Sounds like you need a new tranny. Not a bad buy for $300 though. Pick one up at a junkyard for cheap

 

I was thinking the trany to and orginaly the guy wanted 950 for the car. is there anything else that it could be ?

 

I would say clutch.. Can you shift it into any gear with the engine off?

 

yes you can switch into gears when the car is off

Does it grind when you try to shift into anything other than 4th? if so it could be synchros. best thing to do would be to get a junkyard tranny and replace all the seals on it before you swapped it in with a new clutch.

 

no it doesn't grind when you shift into fourth a part near the shifter is bent i will try to take a pic of the part and the car
