Coilover Q: Tein Street Basis VS. Function Type 1
Hey all I have a 2002 HOnda acccord Coupe 4 Cylinder 144 xxx KM ( 92 xxx Miles)
I'm deciding between Tein Street Basis (720 $) or FUnction Type 1's ($ 780) I live in Toronto Canada so you can imagine the winters here.
I will be using stock rims this summer and getting 18 " Chrome next summer.
Question is what do you guys think of these two types, i've heard Tein Street Basis has both a good ride quality and handling but no upper mount, while the type 1's come with an upper mount (pillowball mount) but these coilovers drive hard and you can feel the road a lot (from what i've heard on the net of course). After reading another post is it true that the Type one's really are THAT low even on the highest setting, apparently they are like a 2.75 inch drop?
I don't want a slammed car I was thinking maybe a 1.5 to 2.5 inch drop all over, would i need a camber kit for that?
Also my second Q is i recently got offered a deal of 1020$ for K sport.
and these coilovers come with camber adjustment and uppe rmounts all in the coilover.
You guys think this is a better alternative for the long run than getting teins or f2s?
Whats our opinion on these coils?
Keep in mind i'm a newbie and just wanna do it to get rid of fender gap for my 18 inch rims next summer.

I have f/f type ones.
easy to install easy to set up
bought these so i could slam but also because it still uses the full strut for ride purposes. I wouldnt buy Tein unless it was their upper end stuff.

YOu think its worth it to get the Ksport Kontrol Pro for few bills more since it comes with upper mount/ camber adjustment and damper adjustments?
Better in the long run? DO stock upper mounts wear off quicklywhen using a coilover system and is it neccessary to use a camber kit when lowering a car with a coilover system?

Anytime you modify a stock system for performance, other stock parts will be affected. Yes your camber will be off if you lower your car.
DO stock upper mounts wear off quickly when using coilovers and lowered?
also do you feel its better to use OEM upper mounts or get coilover system coming with upper mounts and dampening adjustment. I wanted to clarify also do dampening adjustments just alter how fast compression is on the springs? Therefore, would it be wise to adjust damper throughout the seasons like winter/ summer?
Im basicaly brought my deciison to if Upper mounts are necessary to change i'm getting Ksport for 1030, if upper mounts are not mandatory and damper adjusting isnt too complicated (im a REALL NEWBIE) i may stick with Tein Street basis for 720 since the Tein SS with pillow ball mounts are over my budget of 1300.
Keep in mind I'm not a racer just daily driver and am planning to put 18 inch rims on next summer. This year im on stock 15 inc
