Ive had the a6 head on my b8 block for about a week and it ran fine. Today i went to fix my timing and drove it to my garage and fixed it.

But now it wont start and run correctly. it will try to start and while the starter is going the engine will crank faster and faster and it will finally catch up and run. but it runs like poop and the throttle doesnt do anything.

itll idle at 2k then go to 3k and then 5k and i have to shut it off because i cant control it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

sounds like bad timing probably.

 

It's a 88' head so i dont need the other cam gear.
everything is TDC,

 

UPDATE: Its running now but its very hesitant from like 2k-3k but after 3k it runs good.

Could it be because its still DPFI? ive never owner a DPFI car so? any input.

 

Which timing did you fix and what did you do to fix it?

 

if was off maybe 2 teeth. but its running now.

I went in and tried to take off and soon as i let of the clutch it falls on its face

i rolled back and was just going to pull it in my garage and it pretty much wants to die.

 

B8 = possibly missing 8 valve reliefs = possibility of bent valves.

 

it has pm3 pistons.....so it has 16 valve reliefs.

i pulled it into my garage but it took reving it to 3,5k and slipping the clutch.

and when I shut it off it doesnt just die right then. the key is off but it takes a few seconds for it to fully shut off.

 

Have you reset the ignition timing? How did you verify you have the 88 specific camshaft?
