AEM CAM GEAR INSTALL D16Y8
Bought an AEM Camgear for my d16y8. im planning to install it myself.
Anyone got a video or write-up on how to install it? Pictures would be great help.
1. Set motor to TDC. Does this mean turning the crankshaft pulley bolt so that the white marker (right most marker) lines up with the plastic "V" on the lower cover?
2. Loosen tensioner. When i loosen this, the timing belt will loosen right? do I have to remove the timing belt when installing the AEM cam gear or ill just slide it up? do i have to mark the timing belt? i mean is the timing belt supposed to be on a particular mark? or its just a belt, thats it, no markings?
3. Remove stock camgear, install AEM cam gear. how do i do this, should i look for something like marks or anything? this is why i need video and pics.
4. after installing tighten tensioner and then turn crankpulley bolt so that the cam gear runs 3 teeth? how would i know that its installed properly and the belt is in the right tension?
Im hoping to know what to look for, the important things i should look for, coz im worried i might mess up my engine. but i want to learn.

1. yes.
2. yes you will have to remove the timing belt. (at least off the gear anyway) grab a manual and follow the directions for replacing the belt.
3. it should be self explanatory when you see it.
4. see #2.
any reason you are putting the gear on? it does nothing for performance unless you are trying to degree the cam.
