Default Nine years and counting(build thread)

1990 civic si
From reading other people's build threads
I decided it was time to make my own to show you what I Have done to mine.

I bought my car In June of 2003 completely stock other then the optional 88-89 center console water fall....It didn't look half bad to start other then the bumps and bruises on it and the 5speed geared tranny that only had 4 gears lol

So the first thing I did was to swap out the useless tranny. My older brother had spare Si tranny only thing wrong with that it was the input shaft bearing like every other honda tranny out there, So I got it replaced and swapped it in.....

After all that I got the modifing itch from looking at my brothers crx so I bought a used set of sprint 2inch lowering springs then got a full set of csa concept 15inch wheels, clear markers/turn signals and a full magnaflow cannon muffler, I'm still embarressed I bought the muffler lol hahah .........

About 2-3 months later I start looking into swaps, looking at z6/y8 mini me's etc.... I get a call one day my older brother tells me theres a Jdm dohc zc at the local pick-a-part but its kinda molested. I sourced all the others parts from a d16a1 and everything was good and worked perfectly so it wasn't that bad.

Five dollar zc dizzy without coil or ignitor/cap/rotor.... and my brothers collect of crx toys lol

And what I achieved when I put it all back together with oem parts/ minus my centerforce dual friction clutch I got super cheap

Guess its time to take the old D16a6 out.... its sad I never took any pics of it in with that valve cover oh well

So later on down the road a couple years later I go through another set of wheel's... another set of lowering springs w koni yellows another muffler this one was quieter and looked better...

Then Another year goes by as I'm working at this custom wood finishing place my car hasn't changed.. I guy offers to paint my car for just supplies who wouldn't do this, yeah I looked at pictures shoulda acutally saw the car first before acting the way I did bad mistake on my end oh well I learn't alot.
So when it came to the painting part he wasn't bad well I shouldn't be nice he was terrible he forgot coverage and the clear coat was so bad he ran the entire car... I was so ****ing pissed he offered to fix it at no charge on my end bad mistake again he made it worse then the first time. I was so embarressed to drive it so one day after work I start sanding it all down even though he told me to wait a couple of weeks so we could wet sand I said **** that and this is what I came out with.

Then I do this.... spray bomb primered the entire thing another set of wheels miata wheels with falken azenis

Then came the cheap *** rear integra disc rear brakes swap

Then came with me selling those ugly gold wheels still don't know who made them no markings on them and buying a b16a long block and ctr pistons, b16a tranny, arp parts, arizona racing mounts, skunk2 pro 1 cams, brand new intake Itr dual valve springs w/ inner portflow springs the list went on and on.......

Yes thats my kitchen table bachelor life is great lol

So one day I noticed a ef9 jdm front end on the local forum for like 1200 bucks apparently I low balled him and he had another one minus the hood got it all for dirt cheap. I sourced out a hood from my brother since he had a Rhd ef7 w/ the sir front end but he wanted the carbon fibre.....

Then came the waiting game since I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life then it came down to my passion and I knew nothing about paint so I signed up for school... they didn't let me in right away so I started working at a shop I was so slow but I was willing to learn this wasn't your normal car body shop they did semi trucks/fire trucks so it was a great learning curve compared what I was gonna learn in school .First term was alright then second term came around and I had to start with this.... since we had our own projects and mine was big (Here comes the pictures now) at this time its 2007 summer time

Good luck with the build.....nice choice of pistons, people keep telling me that pct pistons have a need to expand and detonate hope it don't happen though.

So I got down to stripping her down to nothing exterior wise... scraped the front end but took the front lip for later
Got the body class to fix my rust issues they weren't to bad but it needed to be done.... then I noticed my gas tank was leaking so I had to drain it and buy a new gas tank

Test fitting the front end

Then it came down to rust repair

Finally got the hood

Rear bumper lip

Fuel tank

It all back together just shortly after bring her to my parents... wanted to keep it stock

nothing really happens for a while now I kinda got in a bind had to sell all my b-series vtec stuff even made all my money back so I couldn't complain really
heres some more shots

Then I parked it at my parents house and finally found some wheels.... I had a hard time with the buyer took forever to get, then found out one was cracked and that began a headache all on its own so I dis assembled them and sand blasted the centers at work. Got new hardware just this year I got the one shell fixed then etched them and painted the centers vsm silver my boss had some extra left so what the hick since I Wasn't so keen on black on black.
so I re assembled them got tires mounted bought lug nuts until I was ready to mount them on my car. I also got my good friend tiff to make my a custom cover for my momo fixed back seat to match my ef si interior. then started fixing little things on the car and finding new things, like the civic front bra, my sunroof visor, this trust axle back I found off a buddy

enkei racing s 15x6.5 45 et two piece wheel

Momo t2000 fixed racing seat

trust ef axle back

Its been a long time coming and I just recieved like 5-6 bins of random honda parts from my brother since hes done with them.... I gladly accepted

I painted a buddies crx with a close friend oh mine last summer he wanted a wet sand and polish then we went for a shoot with his beauty

Thanks for all the comments .... There's so much more to come since I had my fun with my dohc zc its tired and the rings are done plus my brother wants it when I'm done with it .

So since Ive owned the car Ive been in the honda scene for a long time done so many engine swaps with friends and such but never got into turbo's... until I drove my brothers crx on 8lbs little Ihi couldn't believe how much it ripped. So at the moment Ive been figuring out what I wanna do for a engine I got some ideas.

I just changed out a bent trailing arm on my car wheel didn't look right and rubbed like crazy. new rear calipers and brakes, I got this crappy headman header that makes my exhaust hang so low its retarded and I'm not that low either so I got another zc exhaust manifold yet to put that on .... Just little things..... found my oem sunroof visor and put that back on.. I got a box of parts to put on my car upstairs but really want a garage first

This guy I know had this hatch insert between the tail lights, buddy wrapped a big piece of carbon fibre sheet around it and I just layed the clear coat

At the moment I'm helping a guy I know with his engine bay he shaved it all and I made it look alot better... Its almost ready for paint since he's be awaiting his k series in his ef for a long time now ( hope he doesn't mind me posting these )

Another shot with my visor on

Oh yes last weekend I finally got around to painting this guys engine bay ...and he started putting it back together

hope he doesn't mind again since I like to show my work off its a little dusty but not bad for in a shop

I took off my crappy high flowing pos hedman header that was giving to me from my brother and put on the stock dohc zc exhaust manifold and now my trust muffler doesn't sound like *** anymore.... Took the drivers side rear trailing arm off since it was bent even before I bought it and didn't even notice it. got a four door integra tailing arm for 30 bucks and found out it fits.. still got alot more to fix but its coming along.

I'll keep you guys updated

Your car is awesome, I wish I had half the skills you do... I can do all the wrenching, but I'm jealous of the paint and body skills

That was alot of work.... I wouldn't do that again thats sure maybe clean it up with the seam seal but keep it semi stock looking, the guy did all the welding and stuff I just cleaned it up so it could get color again.........

So the other day I noticed my engine was rocking back in forth, So a while ago i found some hasport d series replacement mounts online for 100bucks so I scooped them up and finally threw them in what a difference they are compared to 22year old mounts never replaced or filled

I still have to do my upper ball joints and master/booster swap... but mostly looking for a motor to build I've been out of the game for so long now I need a boost ... wouldn't mind some civic floor mats even copies if someone can point me in the right direction?

Oh yeah been thinking about another honda too undecided but thinking a wagon and I have one in mind If I ever get to see pictures of it .

Well my insurance ran out in the middle of august so I had to put my sidekick back on the road
And decided after 8 years it was time to pull the dohc zc since it was going through so much oil and I came across a sohc z6 complete swap on craigslist for 250s so I grabed it

I also came across a real deal chargespeed lip on a local forum here again couldn't pass it up.... so I wanted to test fit it too see what it would look it

so today I power washed my engine bay and took out my old master/booster and installed my 15/16 da master/booster what a tough task this was

I plan to rebuild the z6 for boost
What I have so far through my brother who gave up on honda's and had a family
- k26 turbo, log manifold, waste gate,Act extreme clutch unsprung cable clutch,Zc tranny/ hf 5th gear, vitara pistons all freebies so far.... since my brother is getting the zc and z6 hydro tranny since I'am a nice brother
