types of spark plugs
Hi everyone, im driving a 96 civic ex coupe with a d16y8, and i changed the spark plugs and the person who assisted me ask if i want cold sparkplugs or hot. So im like new with this so is any difference between those?

If ur car is stock there no need to go colder. Use oem specs. Just give the car info to anyone in autozone or some store like that and they should be able to help u. Are u looking for better gas mileage? Go with iridium plugs
My Haynes Manual for my 98 civic says to use NGK brand plugs. I currently have the NGK R spark plugs.
Some posts I have seen say to use NGK and not Autolite plugs. Said the Autolite plugs doesn't do good.

Ive always use autolites and work great but they dont last that long tho. I bought a 97 civic ex two weeks ago and the dude put ngks in it not even a month ago and i dont like how it runs compared to autolite copper ones. U could also buy ngk v power, i had them on my turbo teggy and was pretty good
NGK is what they come with from the factory, and the only plugs I run. Even when I had a Saturn, NGK were the only plugs that didn't melt on me when using nitrous or the subsequent turbo setup. Make sure you get the correct heat range for your application, and gap them appropriately.

NGK all day everyday!!! Autolite is junk! IMO. Irridium won't improve your fuel economy, maybe recover lost fuel economy from worn out plugs. Platinum are also good plugs but don't last as long as irridiums. I use irridiums and replace about every 80k miles but prob could go to 100k easily. I use NGK-R irridiums on all of my cars.
Most plugs are already gapped to the correct gap but you always want to confirm yourself.

my old man told me never buy car parts at walmart....or in other words, if they sell that brand of plug at walmart..DONT BUY IT.
NGK's are 2 bucks and honda uses em....I never get anything but ngk.
For a Y8....your just wasting your money getting anything more then the G or V plug

I just changed the plugs on my EJ6. It has 120k on the engine and the plugs look like they were never changed as the electrodes were worn a bit. Based on the NGK spark plug guide they had normal wear on them. Plug appearance is a pretty good indicator of engine condition. Here's the NGK guide.

I didn't bother with expensive plugs. I just grabbed the V NGK plugs and after installing them noticed some improvement in the way the engine runs because like I said earlier the electrodes were worn.
Anyways I hope you had a good look at your old plugs as their appearance could clue you into how your engine is running.

Everyone told you NGK and you bought bosch, good luck! Btw whatever they cost you over paid. Oh course he recommended them they were probably one of the most expensive.
NGK. Most of us with turbos run plain old bkr7e-11 plugs. Copper core NGKs are still the best. At 2.50 a piece, less with coupons at Advance, they're cheap too.
Iridiums sound great and can be found fairly cheap, but there's been cases where the tips come off and destroy engines. If you want longevity, just get Platinum. It's still generally good for 100k miles. Stick with NGK or at least Denso, generally these two brands can be found easily and for an alright price.

Well i live in rocky point and in the only autozone didnt have ngk at that time, or maybe the autozone assistant didnt know ngk brand.
