Default Shimming a gsr trans?

I recently purchased a 95 gsr trans that had a hole in the outter case. After taking apart the trans I found the gears to be wiped out. I replaced the gearset with one I had at home but I'm running into a problem I got a case from an 01 itr which have a ball bearing not a roller bearing like on the gsr diff how do I make this work.

run-on sentence with multiple subjects is confusing as hell. so you put some random gears you had laying around into an itr case and are wondering how to make it work? but it's 5:30 on a paid holiday eve?!

wish i could help.

Either try to get the outer races out of the old case and put them in the ITR and use the tapered roller bearings and shim the case (royal pain in the *** to shim and require special tools) or just get two enclosed ball bearings for an ITR trans (IIRC late model GS-Rs had them too) and shim without special tools, just a feeler gauge. Mainshaft will also need to be shimmed and that does require special tools, no way around it.

If you use the ball bearings you will need to shim with the shim from the ball bearing case (as long as the case will mate without force) then order the correct thickness shim. Shim the mainshaft and diff seperately.
