2000 Honda Accord V6 Intermittent Immediate Stall Upon Start
Hi all I have a 2000 Honda Accord Coupe EX V6 Automatic and have been having a problem off and on for a while now. Sometimes when I go to start her up she stalls right out immediately unless I am revving the gas. If I can manage to get it in gear quickly while feathering the gas just right it will stay running and you can ride off no problem. It seems this only happens when the car is warm... so far that's my observation. I cleaned the MAF sensor as well as changed the spark plugs but it's still happening. And of course it just started doing it again real bad when I was getting ready to sell/trade her in... Need to fix asap, and really dont wanna spend $70 on a new MAF and that end up not being the problem and then I'm stuck with the new sensor since it can't be returned. Please someone help!
Thank you all so much!

So, it only does it cold? Idle air control/egr might be clogged(The passages) Any check engine lights? Also, whens the last time fuel filter was changed?
Well I just got back from Autozone and they said I had 10 codes coming up including the MAP sensor, EGR valve, and misfires on every cylinder. I havent done the fuel filter since I have had it 3+ years. I think I might go ahead and bring it down the road to a mechanic to have it diagnosed so I'm not wasting time and money on a wild goose chase not to mention the frustration of changing parts that don't need to be changed in 110 degree weather...
If it is a clogged EGR valve will Seafoaming my engine possibly help clear it up? has anyone done this before or have any insight on Seafoaming?
A bad MAP sensor can cause your car to run like poo... I have used seafoam plenty of times, and with good results so far. It is just not to be used too often, especially with high milage cars. I dont think it will help your EGR issue though. It is usually pretty simple to remove and clean to resolve any issues. Also, I would go ahead and change your fuel filter too...if you havent done so in 3+ yrs it should be done as it should be done regularly...That alone might make your car run much better. What were any other codes?

I figured I'd post this update so if anyone has any suggestions with knowledge of the updated code I can pass them along to the mechanic, also so if anyone else has this problem they can see what steps are being taken. I will be sure to update when all is said and done to so all can benefit from my hair pulling!
THANKS!

Still no word from the mechanic, I am going to go ahead and pull off the intake manifold, and clean it real good as well as clean the EGR and everything in between and see what happens. I'm sick of waiting around for him to do his research when I was able to do research in a matter of minutes and am actually ready to start doing something about it... I'll keep everyone updated..
I never heard back from that stupid mechanic so I went ahead and took off the op intake manifold and cleaned the EGR port on both the engine side and on the bottom of the manifold. It was completely stopped up. It took almost a half of a can of intake/manifold cleaner, a small drill bit, and 15 minutes of elbow grease to get them cleaned out and free flowing. I also removed the EGR valve/sensor, it was gummed up pretty bad too, cleaned it all out real nice & put everything back together. It started right up with a vengeance and is idling smoother, running stronger and quieter than the day I bought it 4 years ago. I wish I would have done this ages ago. I can tell it will get better fuel mileage now too. Any questions feel free to email me EHouseHead@me.com.
Thanks All!

My 2000 Accord v6 stalls when idling in traffic or after running short erands it won't start and stay running. It stalls when put in gear, have to keep giving it gas to keep it running, then it's rough, stalls again. Do you think this could be the same thing? Cold starts are usually okay. This seems to happen after driving for a bit. Do you think this could be the same thing as in EHouseHead's post? I can't afford to throw money at parts, hoping to land on the right one.

Hi unc81,
Did you find what the problem with your car was for the problems you mentioned above? Thank you.
