99 Honda accord lx automatic f23a1
my friend has this car. He has the stock f series transmission. And quick research shoes that these automatic trannys are notorious for leaking and failing. My friend is having both of these problems with his accord. I m not to farmiliar with the accord, but i have done plenty work on a civic. Anyways i dont see the point on him picking up another f series trans to swap in that will just end up failing again anyways. I did some research, and havent found much. But one solution i did come across was that people were taking trannies from the preludes and dropping them into the accord.
So my question is will an h series automatic tranny drop straight into his accord without a hitch? and what i mean is will the ecu, sensors, mounts, starter, etc all line up perfectly without a hitch/?? or is it not that simple.

for that model year the V6 trans was the trouble prone version. the 4cyl trans wasn't great, but it didn't have problems like the V6.
his transmission is leaking..? fix the leak. it's failing? how exactly is it failing? hard shifts, won't shift, no lock-up... what sorts of symptoms are there?
in general, without inspecting the car first hand, these models are most often worth repairing.
are you sure the research you are doing (and finding H-series swaps common) is the auto and not the manual trans?

This is a good read on problems with the 98-02 4spds.
It applies to both V6 and I4 models.
