I was pulled over by CHP today because my Greddy Evo was just too damn loud for the cop's taste. He gave me a fix it ticket with a probable fine for the modified exhaust. I'll find out when I go to court to submit the correction if I'll have to pay a fine-but anyway, I was wondering if anybody has a stock r muffler that they wanna trade for a greddy evo rear section. I am in so cal and will only do this locally, in person. I need to get the stock muffler on my car ASAP. By the way Greddy Evos with testpipes are ridiculously loud. back to the topic of the ticket...how much they making you pay for your ticket? all i gotta say is don't get caught in brea. its a $193 ticket. thats what my friend has to pay. he's going to try and fight it but i don't think he'll win. anyways...good luck

u know u can fight this ticket and most likely win right??? theres 2 parts to the exhaust ordence...first is you cant do anything to modify ur exhaust (u lose here) 2nd is ur exhasut cant exceed 90 dB, you play the 2 against each other in court, they bring out a sensor to ur car and see if it passes the 90 dB and if so u just wasted the courts time ...im not sure how loud the greddy is but my invidia is hella loud so i suggest puttin in the silencer just in case

 

oh btw, even if u pay the fix it i think u get a point on ur license, 2 of my friends got points on their first offense this way but it sounds shady, look into it

 

you can get the correction done with chp office , but you will still have to pay a fine

Did the officer measuer the decibles (sp, its late) of the exhaust or not?? if not, then go get a code book from the dmv $3, and go to court. The code book clearly states that the officer needs to check the exhausts before writing the ticket. I've gotten a ticket like this one in a neighboring city, and got out of it

so cal sux! i got pulled over here with a greddy evo also, told me non-correctable and BAMN! $86.00 ticket. Had to pay, they didnt care if i put my stock exhaust back on, or even if it was 50 st legal. Tried to fight it, ha what a joke. oh well least they didnt make me pop the hood.

police officers have no way of measuring the db of your exaust.(i know this cause my neighbor is in the CHP) its just up to the Officer's descrection to judge if its loud or tooo loud.

 

he he he.. i got ranked in.. dam.. its been a long time since then.. ::busts into records:: ah orange county 1999.. the ticket was $73 went to court plead non-guilty had to pay.. then had to go back with all my fun HKS 50 state legal documentation.. i got all dressed up.. he didnt show i got my $73 back and i ate good that day.

 

how's it sound with just a highflow cat? still REALLY loud? how does it compare to Rs with the N1s(spoon, apex, etc.)?

i just bought one for my R.. hope it's not rediculous.. hehe.. but sorry, i'm on the east coast so I can't do the swap for the stock piece..

oh, and there's no silencer for greddy evos.. i think someone had suggested using one.. could he make his own?

if you have a cat on your car it's ok, with a testpipe it gets very loud. I do have the documentation.

 

I will have to disagree with this. When I got my ticket, i went and got a code book from the DMV. With the code book in hand, i went to court and fought the ticket. It CLEARLY states that the officer must meauser db before he writes the ticket. they have db meter to measuer the db of the exhaust. When the judge asked the officer if he did that, the officer said no, and i was off, just be sure to take the code book with you.
