Blue smoke even after changing PCV and valve stem seals
88 civic lx DPFI D15B2, motor runs like a champ, 234k on the clock, I've chirped into 2nd before and it's an automatic so I think the compression is good but haven't tested it yet. Left a few ounces of ATF in the pistons overnight to clean the carbon off when I replaced the headgasket and none of it leaked though. When I'm in a high gear and slow down off the highway, then hit the gas I get a ploom of smoke. Sometimes I can floor it and I won't see any smoke, and sometimes I see more smoke with higher rpms usually starting around 4k. I'm pretty sure I installed the stems correctly since I soaked them all in oil before installing and I heard each one click, pressed down with a 10mm socket and 3/8 screwdriver. I've driven it 500 miles now after the motor was put back together too so it's not just gunk left over, tried feeding her 20w-50 conventional then switched to full syn 10w-30, same thing. Added a can of restore, no difference really. I've noticed if I don't get on it for a while it won't smoke but if I've been mean to her she keeps smoking? Also if I let it idle for too long (15min or so) it will also smoke on take off. Just sold my 91 318is with almost 500k on the clock, abused that thing on a daily, NEVER gave me a problem, would pass smog with an ebay chip every time with stock cat and still whoop a civic si, miss her now.
if you changed both of it. then its your piston rings.
Pistons inside the engine move up and down a cylinder. These Pistons have metal rings like bracelets round the side of them. These rings help the piston form a tight seal against the cylinder. When the cylinder and or rings get worn, oil from beneath the piston can come up. The oil gets mixed with the Gasoline and Air and gets burnt creating the Blue Smoke.

It smokes only if I'm really getting on it, once in a while it won't. Should I clean/replace that black box that leads to the pcv valve? There's a bunch of carbon in the pcv hose and I think it might have plugged up the pcv already.
its possible to have bad oil control rings but good compression rings. my old d15's oil control rings seized to the piston on 3 of the cylinders... i looked like an old steam engine goin down the road
