Default BRAKE light in cluster won't turn off

hey everybody, today i was driving out to get something when i see the BRAKE light on and i immediately check the e-brake but its down and disengaged. i stopped to see if maybe it was on and it wasnt, so i drove and hit some bumps and turns and it turned off, it came on after a right turn?
any ideas what this is?

Check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. Is it low?

That light turns on when the e-brake handle is up. There is a switch near the e-brake handle that controls this indicator (goes to ground when handle is raised).

Pull off the center console and check to see if debris/coins, etc. are contacting the switch, or if the tension on the e-brake cable needs adjustment.
