Default shaving time with azenis...

this question may have been asked before, but i am not going to sift through all of the "azenis" posts to find it.

right now i am running in the middle of the sts pack and still have on my million mile michelins. i was wondering what kind of time drops people have seen after putting azenis on.

i am running:
98 ex, si shocks, type r springs, f/r strut bars, intake

michelin weather sports i believe. regardless, they are 185/65/14's with an all season tread on them. and they are like steel, hard to wear off.

you'll notice a huge difference between between the Michelins and the Azenis; the Azenis are a really impressive tire. Hard to say exactly how much your times will improve, because it will take some time to dial the air pressures you like best, but likely you'll see a good 0.5 sec improvement and maybe as much as a full second. My Azenis helped me stay very competitive in STS this year, tho YRMV!

here's some unsolicited advice: go back and read as many of these threads as you can. There's a wealth of information there about Azenis (e.g., tire sizes, tire pressures, wheel width, alignment issues, etc.) and you'll benefit a lot from doing so. Otherwise, you'll come across as either too busy or too cool to do so, and that won't earn you any points around here.

With 14" Azenis tires so cheap, I don't know what you're waiting for.

Words have not been invented yet to describe how much better they are than all season tires for autocrossing. And tires are the single most significant change you can make to the handling of your car. At $200 for a set of 14s, they just might be the best bang for the buck you'll ever get in the sport. I'm not kidding.

I would have to say at least a second of improvement. I started the season on kumhos and moved to the falkens and I think I droped a whole second going from those. And the kumho's must be an improvement over stock michelins so it may be even more. You do have to learn the tire to get the times right but it definately is a big jump. I went from being uncompetitive in the begining of the season to winning one event, getting a second, and then a fourth place finish near the end of the season. I even went up to a SC event and took 2nd place pax for the whole event. Just try them and see how big the difference is.
