HEY HOW U DOING AGAIN... I HAVE A 90 CIVIC SEDAN AND I GOT THE CAR WITH A MESSED UP STARTER CHANGED IT AND IT STARTED FINE FOR A COUPLE OF TIMES THEN STOPED STARTING LIKE ITS SUPPOST TO..... I HAVE TO GO BACK AND FOURTH WITH THE KEY... EVERY TIME AND SOMETIMES THAT DONT EVEN WORK ANY IDEAS WAT IT COULD BE THANKS
There is something called ignition switch. This switch allows power to activate the solenoid on the starter which in turn starts the vehicle.
The connection could be old, bad, corroded, or any combination of the above.
The best way to test if it is the ignition wire is to bypass it completely. You can do this by locating the ignition wire on the solenoid and connect it to the 12v power supply from battery on the solenoid. If done correctly, the car will TURN ON. Please have car in park or nuetral. IF you can do this and it starts easily every time you can say it is the ignition wire.
Does it just click? does the starter grind? does it turn ? More info is needed but try the above first and come back and we will give you more advice with your updated info.
