Default Need info on tranny swap for ed6

I have a daily driver/project ed6(std) and am looking into swapping the tranny from a 4 speed to an si 5 speed, because i have a newly rebuilt d15 with some good power but not enuff wheel power. i am converting to mpfi soon and would an si tranny do the trick to release the horses? And if so what is invloved?

Any D series tranny will bolt up to any D series block. Only thing is make sure if its cable to get cable, and if hydraulic to get hydraulic.

You would need to connect the appropriate shifter linkage and shifter base as well.

Maybe therei is more but thats all I know of and can think of at 4 AM

look your std so you got a crappy 4spd just get any of the ef 5spd trans and you will be fine no need to change axels or anything else just drop and install new one.....just to remind you the si trans is hard to come by but its worth the money and also since its shorter gearing you will be at 4000rpms at 80 3500rpms at 75ish.. i daily my ef with d15b vtec (jdm) with the si trans. its amazing feel of the sohc the si trans cuz it pulls and pulls but then again mpg drops a bit and its annoying going to the fwy at such high rpms

I have both dx and SI tranny. I had an S20 trans as well im not sure what that one is. Honestly I preferred the s20 because the MPGS it gave. Si trans is good for racing but not mpgs.

thanks for the feed back, is the dx 5spd(what is it called?)and is it a cable clutch or hydro?
is it possible to rebuild it and perhaps add an 'over drive' or a fifth gear? i dont know too much about transmissions
What would be the best for increasing acceleration?

I've had this conversation with KING before, maybe you too Tony... zc sohc non vtec + si tranny on my daily driver. It's fun and quick. I just baby'd the **** out of it last week (and I mean going 98% freeway for the whole tank of gas, and going 65mph) and I just barely got 34.98mpg.

I haven't driven a car with the dx tranny yet. I would like to though >.>

DX and Si both have exactly the same gearing, the FINAL DRIVE SET is what makes the difference.

http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/gearratiosdseries.htm

Protip
Acceleration: Si transmission
Miles Per Gallon: HF transmission
Mix of both: DX transmission

All these transmissions are 5 speeds. The correct axles/spindles for your setup are another story though. That you'll have to ask someone else about. For some reason the few sets of numbers for splines and **** like that is impossible for me to remember without looking up.

Wrong. CRX HF and Civic STD KNUCKLES use the oddball axles.
