best paired tranny with d16z6?
Got a 1990 CRX Si with a d16z6 and my stock Si tranny. tranny is/was taken care of but in the case of it messing up, what's the best tranny to pair it up with? just want information for the future.
another SI cable transmission unless you want to bother converting to hydro and using a z6 transmission... You can find JDM Cable ZC transmissions(some have lsd) im not quite positive if the cable or hydro had lsd but i do know that some had LSD. I was going to put a z6 in my ef a few years back and the best ratio tranny without having to convert are the stock si cable trannys
Yeah I want to stay cable just because it's stock but that LSD trans sounds tempting. might be worth the hydro upgrade. unless there is a cable version of it... but thanks man. ill start looking for one.
Yeah i wasn't quite sure if the lsd came in both, or one or the other. I;ve heard they are pretty rare. Idk if its just me being a lazy person, but i wouldnt bother upgrading to hydro if you can access si cable transmissions. My friends SI ef's gearing seems pretty similiar to my z6 transmission. But if you do the conversion you'd be that much closer to a B series swap later on in the future. Definently something to think about and research.
you're right. the next swap i want to do for my car is a B series. Either one of the VTEC swaps depending on what comes up first. and yeah, im lazy as well which is why im still cable. if it aint broke, dont fix it haha i just wanna have something lined up in case something happens. cause for a 22 year old trans, it is in excellent shape and i drive rather conservatively because of that. shifts like butter, no dead space. but it's also old. just can't decide on what to spend the money on lol

Cable and hydro D-series take the same diff. And yes for D-series, see link below:

Nope.
Ideal thing to do in a CRX/EF is find a '92 - '93 YS1 cable case (came in all '92 - '93 5 speed integras) and swap hydro guts in it. You can make stuff like a cable ITR trans with all OEM parts this way.
