Default Dirt bike Hot Start Question

hello HT.

Question: is it NOT ok to use the Hot start while trail riding?

sometimes when im ridding with my GF i have to go slower, and its easier to just hold down the hot start and it lets me go slower w/o ever having to GAS it.

Is this ok? what exactly is the Hot Start doing?

Hot start is just a compression release for the engine. It's the opposite of a choke. It leans the A/F out so you can start your bike easier when it's hot.

So is it ok to ride while using it? When i neeed to just putt putt around and go slow, Seems like when i want to go slow if i just hold the Hot start trigger the bike idles up and goes right along at a slower pace without me ever having to hit the gas, otherwise im having to constantly rev up rev down rev up rev down to keep going slow.

Sorry im having a hard time explaining this

just a thought but if it leans the bike out and ur doing it for a while i would think it may get to hot ?? like burn valves up possibly but u would/may probably notice it causing the headers to become hotter /like red

many times im out riding with my girlfriend so i have to go slow. this bike wont go slow, its on it or off it. if i hold the hot start with NO gas at all, it idles up in gear and rolls along instead of bahh mmmmm bahh mmm bah mmmm

if it is leaning it out but im not using the throttle... maybe its not hurting it, maybe it is, i dunno this is why im asking

the hot start should not be abused like you're doing, it is on your bike to do one thing, start the bike when its hot, simple. the reason its not safe is because every time you use it the compression is released and if abused you can lock your motor up. not exactly something you want to happen if you're on a trail, in the middle of the woods, 10 miles from your vehicle. i really dont know why im even telling you this, its retards like you that keep me in business.

Wow listen to this ***. You must be retarded if you dont know everything huh? maybe the next time you ask any questions someone should call you a retard and maybe slap your mother in the face. Its people like you that are the reason ppl dont like asking for help or using HT. You truly are a douchebag. GG

I talked to some techs in Chico, so im clear about it now. I can use it at times, but not for any long duration. His advice was to use 3rd or even 4th gear to slow the bike down and let the taller gear push the bike along slower.

again... theedeadmau5 you're a *** go *** yourself, i hope your fail *** business fails. prob not even a real business beecause you would have learned your manners if you did have a shop. Shop owners tend to respect ppl as its them who pays their bills.

If you do a lot of this type of riding it might be a worth while investment to look into a Rekluse clutch.

the idea is that like in a car the higher gear at slower rpm makes the car/ bike very slowly roll almost to a point of bucking before it stalls and if u accelerate the response will be very lagged unless u obv down shift bak into 1or 2 gear

can u use the friction zone of ur clutch and a little rear brake to help go slower? it helps me stay stable at real low speeds.
