I need to get a baseline dyno done.
Hopefully soon...still running the blue box though. Hondata is just sitting there looking pretty.
Turning up the boost anytime soon?

Tell me this is a "Mustang Dyno"...
Is it true, with the Stock Cat the Greddy Kit can not boost over 5psi, i was told that and it made sense to me. It causes to much exhaust backup, not allowing over 5psi.

how does that make any sense?
What size of exhaust piping are you running?

back pressure in the exhaust system will effect the amount of boost on an internally wastegated car. this is why when u install a downpipe on a supra u hit 15psi from the stock 10 without even touching a boost controller or the wastegate.
those #'s are actually VERY impressive. that torque curve is FLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT! cut out that cat and up the boost to 7psi i bet u see 210whp easy. dont forget that a cat causes back pressure and back pressure creates heat, heat causes detonation, detonation blows motors. so by not cutting the cat, u r puting ur motor at risk.

i dont understand why he cant boost more with a MBC...
So if i had a MBC/EBC i could go beyond 5psi, but how come i could not get the stock 6.5psi?
Is it that the Wastegate is internal, so it does not really measure what is coming from the Intake manifold, and uses what is coming out of the turbo? but when you use a MBC/EBC it uses the measurement coming from the BC? I dont understand why people without the IC can hit 6.5 psi, but once an IC is added boost levels cannot go beyond 5psi.

Congrats on the #'s.
If you don't have a boost controller you have no way of turning up the boost.
There is a guy local to me running the greddy kit on his si w/ a 5zigen exhaust but he hollowed out his cat and w/ a mbc and hondata he was running 10psi w/o issue.
From my understanding w/ the greddy kit the wastegate is internal on the turbo itself. But you can use the actuator arm and adjust it via the screw/nut.

I boost up to 11psi all day long with a greddy SOHC kit on my B18b1 with stock CAT....
so I dont know what your talking about!

I still dont understand.
How come without an Intercooler the greddy kit provides 6.5 psi?
How come with an Intercooler the greddy kit provides only 5 psi?
Same vacuum source.
Am i right, that with any other turbo kit, the wastegate opens when the x psi is reached, not matter intercooler or not? so shouldn't the greddy kit do the same and have 6.5 with an IC?
this really puzzles me, and i have been doing some real research on this.
Ok so with a boost controller, a greddy kit can be boosted up on the stock cat, but forget the whole stock Cat situation, and can somebody please answer this for me.
thanks in advance.

To put the icing on the cake, I'm running 8-9psi daily with a stock cat with the GReddy 18G kit on a Civic Si.
EDIT: The reason I asked if it was a Mustang dyno was not to flame you.. but I noticed you made 148 with sGT's basemap, boosted... thats about 8 more hp over stock. Somethings weird.

Yeah but the basemap was not SGTs i guess i should say, but the basemap provided by Hondata to get the car up and running and to get you to the dyno. I just said basemap by SGT because that is whom i bought the Hondata from.
DeepSi, I'll go to Bat for you here ..
First off everyone chill and READ READ READ, he said stock cat. No boost controllers at all.
From how I understand it, there is a pressure drop from the IC, so I think this is why. My boost gauge reads a drop over 5psi and I have a Trust Type 31 IC.
That Dyno looks really good for 5 psi!!
Now as far as turning up the boost, I have seen the nut on the internal wastegate and I really really want to touch it, lol BUT not with this blue box!! I'll have to wait till Hondata comes in my life.
Everyone knocks the GReddy Kit, its not gonna break the world record of anything but its a kick *** kit, just see Arturbo's post of the Install and Ask chris (DIREP..) how smoothly everything went, NO RUNS!!
Im sure with an opened cat you Break 200 HP (EASY)and turning up the boost to say 7 psi. Good job dude

how are your vacumn lines set up from the turbo and wastegate. I ask because on the sohc greddy kits the instructions say to attach a line from the compressor to the port on the wastegate, but by doing that it only reads the boost pressure in the compressor and not real boost pressure going into the engine because of the charge piping and/or intercooler.
It should be from the wg port to a vacumn port on the intake manif.
check this link http://<a href="http://www.turbocivi...ocivic.net</a> its not for a B16 but its the same concept
