Civic EG tach question
Hey guys, I have an old '82 Civic wagon that I am adding a rare tach equipped cluster into. Since the tach option was only available on select Civics back then...the retrofit is not a plug and play. The tach is actually cable driven and requires the even rarer non-broken tach cable and distributor gear drive. I have neither of the latter.
So my new idea is to make a hybrid tach. I want to use the OEM faceplate and needle from the '82 tach and exchange out the cable mechanism for an electric unit from a newer Civic.
What I need to know is this:
1) what are the dimensions of the stock EG tach (faceplate, electronics behind it, total depth)
2) Do the needles pop off and are they the type that allow light to pass through the needle or are they completely solid?
If it looks like I can swap the faces and needle I'll move forward and upload all the good photos of the retrofit!!!
