d16z6 ef hatch problem. main relay?
Info:
89 civic si
D16z6 with cable si tranny
converted to obd1 via jumper harness
obd0 injectors with resistor box
Alright guys I need a some advice here. Everything works in my car, dash/cluster lights, headlights, etc.. I just replaced the fuel tank and fuel pump with a known working pump. the whole assembly.
Not getting spark to plugs.
No fuel to anywhere.
Cant here pump prime.
The engine does crank over though.
Im thinking it may be a bad main relay. I havent checked inside the distributor cap either.
And words of advice from anyone? Thanks!

Check your fuses. Check your jumper harness, make sure everything is properly connected. Check your grounds, specifically the ecu ground. Making sure everything is properly grounded is important. I can't stress it enough. Failing that, then yes it is probably your main relay. Resolder all of the joints and hope for the best.
Was this setup ever running? Or are these problems only now occurring after the swap? If the problem is only after you dropped in the Z6 and your stock engine worked fine, then I don't think the relay is your problem and would focus on the harness/connections and the grounds.

Question: So the main relay causes the fuel pump to not work, Could it be the reason im not getting spark?
Yes. The main relay is what starts the fuel pump. It also supplies power to the ecu, so in some cases a bad relay will cause no spark. You should resolder all of the joints on the relay whether it is the problem or not. You'll have to do it eventually, so may as well get it done now and avoid problems with it for at least a few more years.
make sure your transmission, thermostat ground, and valve cover grounds are hooked up too, i forgot to hook up my transmission ground (which sends a ground source from the chassis to the ecu) and my car wouldn't start
The car starts up and runs fine now. After inspecting over the grounds I found that the thermostat ground needed cleaned a bit and tightened the rest of the way down! lol. It was late at night when I first tried it so I must of missed it
