Identify my civic please :)
Hey guys, I don't live in the US or UK and I have a 96 Honda civic sedan. I live in Pakistan and my car is called the civic vti here. It's got a single stage I think it's called... vtec sohc 1.6L d16y6 motor. It's a manual transmission. I'm told by my good friend Wikipedia that it's the same as the y8 motor but it's called y6 in some parts of the world. I also don't have rear disk breaks or abs or anything if it will help you identify my car. I want to know what it's called in the US or UK with those specs so I can follow the appropriate threads on this forum. I don't know what ek and dx and hx mean in the mean time... Sorry if im asking a question asked too frequently here, I'm still new here
Could you also please give me a comparison with the other models? So I can also know how I fare against them if it isn't too much to ask? I love my civic and so I'm here but I'm no expert ^^
From what i've read, the D16y6 engine were never made in the USA or EU
Here's some info from none other than "NOFX"

There is a D16Y6. It's a 1.6L SOHC VTEC-II engine that was in the VTi and VTi-S sedan in Pakistan and New Zealand (as best as I can tell those are the countries - other information is from Honda). It's similar to a D16Y8.
Needless to say, I've never heard of one being in the US. I'd check that engine code again. Maybe take some photos for us.

the first six digits of the chassis number would help the most
it will be on your firewall stamped into it
from there you can do a break down of what the model is

What do you need to know? You answered your own question. If your asking what u.s model its closest to I believe its like the ex yours just looks better im sure

Us model would be ex but you have the gas saving vtec is the only diff that motor doesn't put out much HP as the ex here in the states or UK which is 125hp vti is I believe 105hp but other than that should be identical in model number
Oh alright then. Thanks for the input guys! I'm out of town right now so I can't quite take a picture of my car right now, plus its at Honda getting repaired right now. I had a pretty bad accident in it recently so I can't get the chassis or engine numbers either, but I wanted to do some research into it so I can take care of it myself when it gets back.
Here is a picture of what my car looks like its not my car, but a pic of the exact same looking car: http://www.google.com.pk/search?q=ci...DR3XRMhk__StM:
So ex it is then I guess
