A/C not Cold 1997 Accord 4 cyl EX
Hello, I live in rochester, NY. My car A/C gets cold (50 deg F) but doesnt get real cold (38 deg F). I added a little bit of R134a but i know that the system needs an exact mass of R134a. What can i do to make it colder. i was going to clean the condensor. Then see if it gets better. Then I was going to evacuate the system and try the exact amount of charge and possibly a drier,
Can anyone give my some steps to take to make my car in spec. as far as AC temperature ?
Thanks, Don

I have 95 accord and just had very similar issues with it being cold but not as cold as it should. realized that condenser had a leak. its always better to replace than repair it from what ive read. you will have to have it evacuated then refilled. also make sure you use fluorescent dye so you will be able to see any other leaks.
i've never really paid attention to all what all the buttons do in regards to AC, but i found that in my 90 accord it gets around 43 degrees when on recirculation as opposed to the fresh air button.
i know thats not the answer you're looking for, but test that first and see if the air gets colder.

First I would vacuum the system to remove the moisture and see if that helps also If you open the system for repairs you must also vacuum the moisture you let in after a repair therefore if you want peak performance these procedures must be done. Get the helms manual if you attempt any repairs and that's the only advice I can offer because mine doesn't run at all since I have a major leak.
Before doing anything, have the high and low side pressures checked?
Also note, this gen do/did have "some issues" with the blend door adjustment. So I would check that as well.
