08 Civic sedan, need suggestions 4 more power!!
Ok so I have a friend that wants to power up her Civic as the titles suggests. Most of my experience is with boosted mitsubishi's and its not like I can put a bigger turbo on her civic and call it a day.
SO I would like to take some suggestions as to what other civic owners are doing in there quest for MORE SPEED!!
BTW we dont have a whole lot to spend on this project, so the turbo kits are out of the question, and I don't believe she wants to pull the motor for any internal upgrades. Please post what parts worked for you, brands, and overall experience. I know we purchase a Flashpro for our tuning needs, I have mostly used ECUflash for Mitsu's and subies. But most tuning is all the same.
Question, are there pre made base maps to download respective to the parts we install? ie, exhuast, cold air intake...
Thank you for your time

Ok that sounds good. Where is a good place to purchase honda parts from. I usually buy through MAPerformance, AMS, but they are limited on honda parts.
Also if anyone could chime in that is fluent in the tuning of honda ecu's I would like to bounce some questions off ya!
Thanks

Yes we will be working on getting all of these items. But Will this require a custom tune with flash pro? or is there some sort of base map already made for this set up?
Not really sure? I do know its an '08 Civic Si 4 door.. What other sub models are there that it could be?
Next question.. Are the parts listed above the best we can do before we have to start thinking about forced induction?

Flashprotuning.com has basemap. Get an etune it is the best route. Vit is doing almost everyone I know. From turbo to NA.

Lots of turbo people have seen 400-500 FWHP on stock internals. The weak point tends to be the tranny when you start making that much power. With a good tune, the engine will last quite a while.
DSport magazine actually says the connecting rods are usually what breaks in mid-high boost applications
Honestly what i believe is all the post prior to mine are all correct on getting power to your car, but the next question would be do you want more :D.
once you get power some would always want more. For me i have a 2008 honda civic si FA5 (4DR) and im working on all motor civic. i dont care to much for Aspiration except for the cool BOV sound
. all motors cars with internal upgrades is just more reliable if your looking to have this car your DD.

On top of the I/H/E/Fp/cams, change up the TB and replace the RBC with the RRC.
Beyond all of this, one would need to work on internals.
Don't forget to address tires/suspension. You can add all the power in the world, but if you can't put it down effectively, you have wasted your time.

Also clutch and flywheel upgrade will help distributing the power. Weight reduction will make it faster too...
A turbo would be the best gain but it can be pricey. As far as what the K can handle boost wise? If you're not tuned with bigger injectors and hit 14/16 psi, You can expect a rod to start to bend like a banana. Must always maintain a proper AFR in order to keep a proper running engine and maintain power. Flashpro's a must to keep the engine stable. I just finished tearing down two blown K20Z3's. One was from oil pump failure + vtec + 12psi of boost, Shot a hole in the block. Another one was a spun bearing due to an improperly installed Type S oil pump. Any other help with power upgrades feel free to contact me.
