Icon2 b18b1 serial number

hey guys noob here at honda-tech.. i have a question i have searched and searched for about a week now to see exactly what yr my b18b1 is.. iu have a serial number of 170400 and was wandering if anyone could help me out with an exact yr..

the head i dont beleive is original. so any help would be great.

Year should be stamped in the head just above the exhaust manifold.

Should see some round dot castings with lines in them.

on my head the first one from the left is the year it look like 9|7 meaning it's a 97'

the 10th character in the VIN is the year

R- 1994
S- 1995
T- 1996
V- 1997
W- 1998
X- 1999
Y- 2000
1- 2001

This indication on the cylinder head is the actual build date,
although on every instance i've seen they are joined with vehicles of the following year.
so the 9|7 engine goes into the 98 car

So if my left stamp is a 9/6 it would go into a 97'? Asking cuz the guy I bought the car

Your stamping shows a manufacture date of 5/96... so you have a 1996 head.
