Let's talk about bseries retainers - tool steel?
I've used titanium retainers for many years now, but I'm looking for something that will have better longevity with my next project; jrsc + b18c5.
I still want to be able to rev the motor to 9200-9500 rpm, so I'll be using a set of rockets valve springs for peace of mind.
I'm trying to decide what retainers to use with this setup...
A good buddy has been building and racing lsx motors for a while, and recommends tool steel retainers - they're a couple grams heavier than Ti, but will never gall or wear.
I haven't seen anyone using tool steel retainers in the Honda world - I've only seen oem, Ti, Aluminum, and chromoly.
Since this is going to be a KISS build, I want to build it only once.
Remember, this motor will still get the **** revved out of it...
