Default Carbon fiber syncros Vs. Oem syncros...

What's up guys I had a question, I recently broke 4th gear in my H23 trans and I was planning on rebuilding it and I was reading the weak links in those tranny's are the syncros so I was wondering are the carbon syncros from syncrotec stronger than stock? Oh and and I'm at 664whp right now.

No. They will ast longer and work better than stock but they are not any stronger.

LMK if you need H23 stuff, I have a couple laying around I could help ya with some parts :O) (4th gearsets etc.)

Youre going to need a gearset at that power though.

Period. Trust me. PM me if you need help. :O)

The syncros arent the weak link, the sleeves are what wear out more often than not. The gears are whats going to be your real problem at that power though. 4th and second... And the H23 tranny is the ONLY H tranny I ever broke 3rd on as well....

The input shaft is the same as a 5th gen M2Y4 though, as is 1 and 2 on the counter... after that it gets different, the H23 tranny uses the smaller "F" sized 50mm syncros and sleeves (therefore H22 3rd/4th gear will not swap and use the H23 3/4 shift fork/slider or syncros).

I have a forged straightcut gearset in my car that Im running OEM syncros on that I shift at 9K. No issues..... Using Redline lightweight shockproof. HAd good luck with Sycrotechs carbon syncros as well. Dave is awesome.

A FCV might help the hit of the shift, but... If your breaking 4th gear, OEM trannys are not going to hold up. Its justraw power (TQ) thats going to shear the teeth right off....

What chassis is the setup in?

:O)

The carbon synchro's 'grab' better than the oem brass. that's not to say they're stronger. if you break brass, you WILL break carbon also.

Well I actually havent broke 4th gear itself I think it's the spring broke on 4th it goes in gear but pops out when I get on it, I haven't really had a chance to make a good stronge pull without spinning, I'm about to order some Hoosiers and see how those grip,

And I got coil-overs all the way around and full race traction bars

There have many revisions of the carbon synchros, I have had a set fail. I would make sure you buy them directly from syncrotech to get the latest and greatest.

Sounds more like the Sleeve is completely ****ed. Spring could be broke too... Or "Flat" around the outside of it, but doubtfull that they are the primary issue... How bad is it grinding?

As for tires, GO M&H racemaster 235/60s and dont look back. I hook well over 500 in 3rd SOLID with them. Around 450 in second, in a 4 door 94 Accord Im putting 7 dwn in fourth. On the street ;O)

They are THE best street legal tire PERIOD...

The only way to know is to have it open... once you have it open and have inspected all possible culprits you can make your decision. I would put my money on the sleeve, personally.

The grinding isn't really that bad but it does grind and I let the car sit for 2 days and drove it around the block and put it in 4th at Low rpm's and it stayed in and I think It popped out once during me driving it for 20min.

And as for the tires can you post a link or a pm where you got them and which ones to get? Because I know a buddy of mine selling a set but idk if they are actually street legal
