Anybody ever buy a new axle that was bad?
Have a 95 accord that has a roaring noise in the front. You know the wawawawa noise, well 2 years ago I replaced both axles and the drivers side wheel bearing. So I assumed that I should replace the passenger side bearing. I ordered a bearing and a right side axle. Put them in on Friday, and the noise is still there. Drove it today and it got worse. Jacked up one side at a time and the right side is vibrating terrible! Any ideas? Find it hard to believe I got a bad axle.
a bad axle isnt impossible but would be very unlikely, is it possible that you put the bearing on wrong? i believe on this model you have to tighten the nut loosen it and then tighten it back to torque spec again to set the bearing into place properly if not installed properly it could be a little sideways
is it a autozone axle? if it is take it back and get your money back autozone axles arent balanced. i have always had problems with autozone axles but sometimes im forced to do it becuz the client doesnt want to spend more. and guess what i end up loosing those customers becuz they think i did a bad job. some of those customers actually came back and apologized to me after having shops/mechanics look at it fix it with same axles and same problem
I bought it from AutoPartsWarehouse, went back on their site to check on returning it, and seems that they sent me an axle for a 6cyl instead of 4cyl. Dont know what the diff. is but.....Ordered the correct one and will return the other.
The new axle came in yesterday, put it in and the noise is still there. Had my brother drive the car down the street with me on the hood leaning over to listen to each front wheel, I dont hear any noise at all outside. Put it in neutral and killed the motor, nothing. But you hear it inside. I've spun the rear wheels thinkin It could be a rear wheel bearing, no noise.
Forgot to mention that after putting in the first axle and bearing that I jacked up one side at a time and ran the car in gear, nothing from the left side , but the right side with the new parts vibrated real bad. This is what made me think I got a bad axle. Could I have a bad bearing inside the trans. ?

it could be that the bearing wasnt pressed all the way in. or like i said i could be a unbalanced axle. return it get your money back and go somewhere else buy it put it on and see what happens. it doesnt hurt. at least it wouldnt for me
