So, the A/C in my wife's Accord just randomly decides when to work or not. Most of the time, not. I checked the resistor and that's not the issue (tried a buddies resistor from a 4 door Accord) and the blower motor isn't the issue. My son and I are melting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

what about the a/c relay? did you try to apply direct power to the compressor coil/clutch?

 

Most likely your problem is the "compressor field coil". It's a fairly common problem on newer Honda/Acura models. There are a few ways you can test it but the easiest is to check resistance via a multimeter, but if you don't have access to any testing equipment such as that I would bet that's your problem. It's not the easiest thing to replace for a DIY'er. If you don't have a fair level of mechanical ability I would save that job for your local auto shop.
