I have a 2002 Honda Accord Vtech 4cyl engine. The codes that i am getting is
P0300,
P1399,
P0301,
P0302,
P0304,

The car starts up fine and runs pretty well cold, When hot, It starts misfiring like crazy and the car jerks. The car does not turn of but stalls a lot while on idle. I have replaced the ICM(ignitor), Coil, Spark plugs,Wires, Distributor cap, and Rotor, My mechanic recommends me to replace the whole Distributor.

What do u guys think?

 

Don't believe in what you're mechanic tells you. I had a similar problem (misfiring, violent idle and stalling) and mine though it was a motor mount... Had the motor mount replaced and NOTHING happened... Cost me 200$ too. I got robbed.

So basically, you don't want to just throw parts on your car. Some mechanics will throw parts at it.. You want to make sure you know what the problem is first and then fix it. It usually takes a bit of time but its better than wasting money on parts and labor (I say forget mechanics, I do my own work now having learned the hard way).

What you may want to do is see if you have good compression in the cylinders. You can do this with a compression tester, or better yet do a leak down test. However a compression test is much easier and cheaper than a leak down test, you don't need an air compressor. Try that first and then see where it lands you... I even tried a new distributer but that didn't work either, it was 150$ for that thing and I took it back.

You may have bad compression in the cylinders...
I did on mine, really bad compression, that's why i'm rebuilding the son of a gun.

I forgot to mention. Check the spark plug firing tips, they can tell you what is wrong with your car. See here: http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/engine/plugs.html

It could also be that your fuel injectors are bad, but you must get a noid light or a stethoscope to test for that.

after watching that video, i looked at my battery and it does look pretty corroded. would a bad battery really cause an engine to misfire all cylinders?

 

Might, don't know for sure, but you want to test the part to see if its bad before replacing it. Go to autozone or advance and they're test it for free.
Also, you want to take some sand paper to those battery posts to clean the corrosion off.

It looks to be Cylinder position sensor. Can i just swap the sensor, or do i need a new distributor?

 

you could get a definitive answer and find the root cause if you follow the troubleshooting procedure in the service manual. worthwhile investment if you don't plan on taking your car to a professional.

aside from that, have a close look at the ignition wires, the distributor housing, and ensure that the fuel pressure is in spec. also check wiring going to the distributor (the four pin connector specifically) for damage or loose connections. also double check all your grounds to be thorough.

P1381 should be sorted out first, then troubleshoot the other codes.
