Default BBS RM 012 Rebuild (almost DIY)

Hi!

When I bought EG it came with the Rota's Grid but since I'm sick of TE37 design (had 3 sets od TE's) it was time for something new and old. So I found those BBS RM 6.5x15 ET 33 wheels which are not in a bad shape when I brought them home.

Ok. I'm pain in the *** 'coz I want thing clean and in good condition as it can be. So I unscrew all 120 bolts (no one broke)...

Ugly...

So I went to my friend and we done a bit of polishing.

Result was fine but just fine so... Let's do some proper Rebuild. First thing is to put apart wheel from outer rim which is really 10 minute job.
- put a rim outside down on a wooden,... brick so the outer rim in in the air and not touching anything
- use rubber or wooden hammer and take 2 or 3 firm strikes
- that's it!
Don't worry. Outer rim is not made of jelly so you won't bend it or something like that.

Ok. Let's se what we have. JESUS! Someone put a lot.. a lot of sealant.

OMFG! There is sealant for 2 sets of wheels and it is wrong to put a sealant between the wheel and outer rim.
Why? When you screw bolts on again you have to use certain torque for each bolt. When the sealant will dry out there will be no longer same torque force on bolts so... air leaking out! More torque you think? No way. You will brake the bolt and then you are f* up! Pure simple physics.
So THIS IS WRONG!

So much sealant...

I use stanley knife to cleaned it out as much as possible.

Some 15 min electric power job...

...and ready for sandblasting.

I also cleaned up bolts....

...and now they are like brand new. Re-chromed with polished heads.

I also made some custom stickers for outer rims to fit perfectly on my...

...new 1.0" outer lips! So now I will go from 6.5x15 (0.5" outer rims) to 7.0x15 (1.0" outer rims) wheels.

Before I bought them I made some fake test where I will be with 7.0 wheels. Tight one, tight!

In the meanwhile I also bought new 12 pcs. center set. Damn. Almost too nice to use it.

Now the wheels. Which color should I use? Ok. Lets use CANDY TEAL! I've got
- fast hardener
- clear anti-scratch paint
- multi thinner
- silver "large" base and
- BBS CANDY can was 1 hour job but I'm happy.

So. Today I deliver the wheels to a man who will check them if they are round and straight. If not he will fix them. Then sandblasting, painting and finally assembling.

Bit of update while I'm waiting my wheels to be straighten, sandblasted,...

As i said I have set of old 3D BBS center caps so why not make them bit different from others?

Just got some custom 3D stickers but those are main.

And voila!

Not available in any store.

Some fast preview...

It's a start! Old base is just perfect so there will not be a lot of work with the preparation.

Some update. Base color SILVER LARGE and then CANDY 2 layers!

Here we go. Final 'front touch' and I'm ready fo assembling!

More during the weekend - I'll put them together... I hope!

I think gold would have looked better with the black car, but those are some nice wheels

Wheels are looking FRESH! Where are you getting your BBS parts? I'm looking for new lips for a set of RS' I plan on rebuilding.
Also, what was your process for cleaning up the bolts? Yours look brand new!

All four lips for 350 euros? (sorry I'm not keen to what currency symbol that is...) That seems like a deal! Black Forest Industries is the lowest I've seen and they were selling for like $165 US each for 16" x 1.5"

And your pics are down, bandwidth was exceeded!
