96 honda civic cx knocking noise
my honda has this knocking kinda noise when i break and like a when im driving!"!everyone keeps telling me its a normal sound since my car is old but i dont believe it..i know theirs a part that needs to be changed anbd i would like to change it as the noise is embarasssing when i brake...Im not ruling on the brakes but would like to know b4 i get screwed off mechanics...Any ideas what it could be?

The noise is only when you are braking? Where is it coming from, the front of the car or the rear? It could be something as simple as warped rotor, though that's not usually a knocking sound so much as a vibration, if everything else on the calipers/pads are in order. Of course, maybe there's more than one problem... One thing's for sure, you've been talking to people who don't know what they're talking about, any sort of sound like that while braking is definitely not a normal or healthy sound for any car to make, even an old car.
A knocking noise while breaking usually means incorrectly installed rear shoes, or broken drum hardware. If it was coming from the front, you'd have a lot more problems than just a knocking noise.
well not only when it brakes and its not like a knocking squealing nopise and the squeal it makes too when i turn the wheel n sometimes when i drive!!im trying to capture the sound ...i dont know if its the suspension the shocks??!!!
