Well i have a 94 honda civic hatchback with a D15 engine. it has no AC and the only mods are an intake system. I rode it with the check engine light on but it drove like nothing was wrong. but it would back fire a lot when driving. after driving it today i came to a stop and the car was in neutral. i put it in first and started to roll and as soon as i let go of the clutch the car immediately turned off. i tried to turn it on and it wouldnt start. after a minute of letting it cool down it turned on and i drove about a block and threw it in neutral and it stopped again. it didnt want to start yet again untal after about a minute. then i turned it off and left it sitting. i then came back to it after 10min and it didnt want to start again but started eventually. and stopped when i threw it into neutral again. after that it didnt want to start at all. the spark plugs did have some oil in them but idk. it just didnt want to turn anymore. any ideas or suggestions?

Pull ure check engine light code check the stickey on how to do this. It's a good tech to know also

 

Is the fuel pump priming? You should hear a humming noise coming from under the rear seat when you turn the key to II.

 

Thanks that sticky is a real good thing to know. but i got the problem fixed. the problem was that the previous owner had a steering wheel mod with an NRG quick disconnect. so he wired up wires to a fuse and made it so that the mist of the windshield wipers was the horn. well there was a wire that i'm not sure of what it is but i'm guessing has to to with a ground or positive to the horn. but anyways it was loose and i guess touching other fuses which wouldnt allow for the car to turn on. So i covered up exposed wires with electrical tape. and my car is up and running again thank god it wasnt anything major.

 

It was. the problem was with wires underneath the steering wheel that were exposed to fuses and was touching them. Thanks for helping with the fuel pump idea too.
