Icon2 ECU Problems

Hey guys, I've had my 93 EG Hatchback with a D16y8 manual swap for about 4 weeks now. I've been going ape on forums and tech guides trying to figure out the best way to approach my ECU problem. I have concluded through much pondering but would prefer to have some help also. My current ECU is a chipped P06.....Yeah. What the heck. It's chipped to where I have no red line....I have no clue why and I don't really care the previous owners motives behind this. As to the P06 being installed, I'm NOT running vtech and this is quite upsetting haha. But really. I know I need an ECU such as a P28 or a for sure P2P. I was looking up the differences and I really don't see an obvious choice. The P2P is made for the D16y8. But I've been reading JDM Universe all of the specs and I think my best bet to get vtec running is P2P. Help would be very appreciated!!!

P2P is obd2, it would be easier to go with a P28 being that your car is an OBD1

It all depends on what ENGINE wiring harness you have running into your ecu...

-How do you know you aren't running VTEC?
-CEL?
-The only way to get vtec "running" is to make sure your D16Y8 is wired up with a vtec harness all the way to the ecu. If not, you need to run your own wires to the ecu.
-You need to tell us what harness you have and probably post pics.

Also, what model EG? dx/vx/si?

noz- yeah I suppose you're right. and d15bvtechatch- I know when vtec kicks in. I know the sounds to look for, the feel of the car when it does kick in, and the P06 doesn't support the vtec. CEL? It's a (eg body, front end ek conversion)-irrelevant, d16y8 which is out of an ex 97, and are you asking because maybe the harnesses are different for the eg and they didn't swap it with the correct harness? Unlikely but I will find out facts, take pictures, and then get back on and post it all for further advice and help. Thanks!!!!

The p06 can be adapted to run VTEC. Xenocron for one makes a kit, so you may have it instalLed.
