driving up the mountains earlier on the way to eibach and halfways up i start losing major engine power and my CEL starts flashing. pull over to check the oil, turn the car back on and no more CEL and drives perfectly fine once i start the downhill.

for reference i have a small engine oil leak and when it gets too low the CEL stays on and i get code p1259 that has the same power loss but at all times, i erased the code and keep the oil level in check, problem never came back until today, and it was much worse than when i was just driving on flat road

anyone else have this problem that can shed some light. i dont want this to impeded my travels. thanks

 

Well you know the 1259 is a vtec issue.....most of the time caused by low or dirty oil. FIX the leak!

So are you sure this was the same code? Re-check, most of the time a flashing cel is a mis-fire or other major issue.

 

Check all your spark plugs, plug wires(connections at the motor and distributor) Also your distributor, rotor button, etc. Could be an ignition problem.
