Misfire/ Stutter 1996 Accord
I have been working on girlfriends 1996 Accord 4cyl Non-VTECH Manual for the past few days. She is having a problem that I am having issues tracking down. The car stutters/ misfires when at a cruising speed. The actual speed is meaningless. This happens at any speed but you have to be at a constant speed. The car idles fine, accelerate fine. No codes are being given.
Remedies so far.
New plugs and wires.
New oring and gasket kit for the plugs. (Oil on boots when I went to change them).
EGR Ports and manifold cleaned.
Any ideas will be helpful.
Thank you,
Wil

Check to make sure the distributor isn't scorched? Or the wire isn't getting too close and arcing? (replace distro parts)
Any other ailments noticeable? Shaking, rattling, vibration?

I will have to check the distributor. The car does not have any other noticable signs. It's in decent shape and running condition except for this new issue. The car currently has 217400 miles on it.

I did clean the EGR valve. Sprayed with carb cleaner and a wire brush. The pin seemed to move freely. I did not test the valve under power due to lack of knowledge.
Thanks

phootbag recently posted on the proper procedure for testing. While the engine is running you should be able to apply vacuum to the valve and it will open. When it does the engine should begin to bog and stumble. If you do not have a vacuum pump you may be able to use a piece of vacuum tubing and T off manifold vacuum.
I want to thank everyone for their suggestions. It ended up being a problem with the rotor. After removing the cap I noticed the rotor was not on tight and missing the bolt. I could move spin the rotor appox 3/4". After removing and inspecting better I found the "D" shape in the rotor was worn out. The majority of the flat on the "D" was rounded out. Quick change of the cap and rotor, problem was solved.
