Default Thanks from NASA

Y'all,

Honda-Tech rocks. Honda Challenge Rocks.

I am thouroughly impressed with the enthusiasm demonstrated by those from the Honda-Tech community. Putting these events on can be difficult work and it is a labor of love to a great extent for those of us here at NASA but, it heartens us all to see people with your enthusiasm. It is hard to express how much it means to us to see the gleam in a novice drivers eye after their first session or the goofy smile when an HC driver wins a race and gets a big smootch from the trophy girls. NASA will have even more dates next year. I wish we could do them every week (well, maybe every two weeks)

Thanks for making it fun for us.

Peace,
Chris Cobetto
Director, NASA-VA

No, thank YOU Chris, for going out on a limb with a hairbrained Idea about a all honda race series.. Its just going to get better.. Is that the closest finish ever in NASA VA history?

I think the definition of enthusiasm is when we have so many bookler flaggers that we actually had TWO people per row of cars. Then the entire pack of us literally sprinted across the paddock to watch the field come through turn 3. Then on Sunday, when Corey and Alex passed us in turn 3, we all ran down to the start/finish line to catch the end of the race up close. It was amazing!!!

Whoever stated on the race net that there were two people per flag so one could be trained was a genius. I don't think they were going to allow that many out there, but when that response came back, JJ said something along the lines of, "that's an excellent idea."

Of course, I wonder how hard it is to learn to wave a flag if either one of the two cars, or both, fail to start??

LOL! That was even better than my "one person to watch the cars and one person to look to the right to see if the other flags are waving" bs excuse!

Actually we had one other (at VIR) between Steve Marcus and Gary Kritchbaum that there was no margin of victory and another between me and Brian Dobyns in the Cobras where the margin was 12/1000th of a second. Dobbie got me.

Looking forward to next year.

This is one of those situations where transponder placement is key. Alex had Corey by somewhere between 6 and 12 inches. Apparently Corey's transponder is exactly that much farther forward in his car.

Well Chris - I'll be back next year. NASA is more fun than:

Grand-am Cup
Motorola Cup
SCCA

thanks for putting on great events. See you at the BEAVER!

I've never felt "proud" to be a part of a racing series until that trophy ceremony on Saturday. The other thing that really amazed me this past weekend was the level of enthusiasm that the crowd had for ECHC compared to the other races. I'm telling you, the people were going NUTS for our races!!!

Oh, and to finish the year with an average of 23 cars/field for our inaugural year is amazing! I can't wait for next year when I kick all of your asses!!!!!!!

That means a ton. Thanks Alex.

Hey, you haven't raced until you've lapped the Beaver.

Yep, it sure was fun to see this thing get off the ground and follow from out west. I can still remember the original thread where it all started. My congratulations to not only the 2002 winners, but to all who organized and participated. Well done.

I wish I'd been up in the tower videotaping that finish instead of down on the ground, it would have provided the perfect angle for a "photo" finish. I got down ground level so that I could have a good shot of the flag, the cars, and then JJ & Mark with their "big thumbs up".

Regardless when T&S said their was no margin of victory, JJ remembered that I had been videotaping and wanted to check out the film.
