If Only They Were Doing Some "Serious" Racing...
1. Actual Photo Finish on Sunday (JJ and Mark had to find someone who was videotaping at the finish line in order to declare Alex the winner).
2. Lap times comparable to the Grand Am Cup STI and STII times earlier this year.
3. Drivers gaining 6 positions on the standing start before turn 1 (FROGGIE PANTIES!!!).
4. The best, most sincere, trophy ceremony you have ever seen.
5. 3 of 5 class championships decided on the last weekend of the year. One class in a dead tie going into the final race.
I wonder what "serious" racing is like???
Thanks to everyone for a great year. Karl and I had high expectations and we've managed to exceed all of them.
Looking forward to bigger and better in '03.
Scott
PS - I neglected to mention in the trophy ceremony... It is now "The Jason Franza Award" for the Rookie of the Year.

Scott, who takes comfort in the fact(?) that nobody on the west coast is into this whole funny panties thing.....I just don't think you really need that to go fast.....
2 more feet, he would have been mine!!!
Thanks for everyone this year, the trophy presentation showed it all, how much everyone supports us, and how awesome our community is, which I hope will only grow next year!
Thanks guys

I also have the complete awards ceremony on video as well.
Daniel - who's finish footage was used and who was front and center and got ALL the action for the awards ceremony!
Trophy girl and Chuck Reyes, hahaha, that was great footage!!

krshultz <-- 0wned (along with a whole bunch of other people). I remeber looking out the passenger window and seeing him there, and thinking..."Excellent. Good thing I qualified so well, that lasted almost 10 seconds! Good job!
"

.Scott, who needs someone to teach him how to qualify well.

Jeff - who was a little disheartened that the room had cleared out so much, but looks back on it as a good thing.
Take comfort in the fact that the ECHC had the most and loudest fans at that ceremony. I heard no chants of "chug, chug, chug" or "rice, rice, rice" any other time. We matter, and we showed it!

Forgot to add that your start on Sunday was nothing short of amazing. That was seriously some bad *** driving, Scott. Todd and Chad weren't bad either

I've said it before but the entire ECHC organization should be commended for doing a hell of a job with their first year. Well done!

Thanks for allowing the Left Coast to vicariously live through your stories. Great season to all and congrats to Scott and Karl - your baby's growing up!
Greg ~ who really want to drive Mid-Ohio with these guys :blort:
BTW - I don't want to see ECHC start selling Froggy Panties on the website! :anti-blort:

Sunday's race: Couldn't have been better if Francis Ford or Hitchcock had directed it!

After that incident, and the #23 wreck, I'm wondering if I should try and do some coordinating with spectators/drivers to capture the ENTIRE race on video.
I know Coreys highlights would take up a video alone so I could imagine the whole field of cameras trying to get together........... mini-series anyone?
by the way can we do a crew chief award and name it the "Shocker Award"?
Morgan - who is gonna get yelled at by Corey for that one

to Karl and ScottI've paid significant sums of money to see a race before, but the battle for the lead between Alex and Corey was the BEST racing I have ever seen. Grand-Am Cup lap times, lap after lap, no (or insignificant, anyway) contact.
I am very disappointed I was unemployed all year. Right before I got laid off, I had an opportunity to buy a good CRX for $1500. After a year of unemployment, my finances are a disaster. I haven't had this little money in my bank account since college. I really don't know if I'll be able to recover in time to get anything going for next year. So I may be once again sitting on the sidelines, watching the best racing no one's heard of.

I typically have terrible starts and come away happy if I just don't lose any positions. I dunno what happened this weekend... I wish I did.
Anybody have any videotapes of the starts? I'll likely never do it again and need to save them to reflect upon.
I was told I passed 6 cars before turn 1 on Saturday. I have no idea if this is true as I certainly wasn't taking the time to count.
Scott, who was proud of the start until his girlfriend reminded him that he wouldn't have to pass 6 cars on the start if he'd get his head out of his *** in qualifying
.
Congrats on a great inaugural season, and thanks for giving many of us a vicarious "high" by sharing all the exploits here. Well done!
