Carbotech - price drop coming?
Most of the people @ VIR probably heard the same thing, but I wanted to pass on the info. Larry from Carbotech came up and was asking us about what pads we're running. We talked a while and he mentioned that there would be a substantial price drop next year on the Panther line of pads for Honda/Acura applications.
He used "substantial" in 3 different sentences, so that sounds like good news for many of us.

I didn't ask since I'm too much of a newb to remember "back in da day". My impression was a considerable drop from the current price...
Maybe we can pry some information out of Matt N.. I won't need pads until a couple events into next year so I wasn't pushing for information.

drop from the current price or the price from 'back in da day'?
Never mind the price drop...can you get him to stop cursing so much?

Just grow up.
That larry- I have never heard so many profane words in a five minute span. My goal next time I talk to him is to use more curse words than he can-hopefully I can meet the challenge
.
.
I honestly didn't even notice. He probably doesn't think about it any more than I think about the way I say the word "on".
(which seemed to amuse George).

It's a vocabulary crutch - plain and simple. F%$k, for example, can be used as a noun, adjective, pronoun, verb, etc. People say this stuff out of habit and/or because they can't think of a better word to communicate with. In business, cursing rarely is appropriate.

1) The cost of doing business in North Carolina is SIGNIFICANTLY less than the cost of doing business in Ft. Lauderdale. Taxes are lower. Labor is cheaper. We're closer to our suppliers and with UPS we're 2 days shipping away from just about everywhere east of the Mississippi river and south of NYC. Location, location, location.
2) When the integral moulding program is implemented (we'll only be doing the most popular pads at first. Yes, a lot of Honda applications are on our "most wanted" list), the cost of production will drop. IM-ing takes a lot of labor out of making a brake pad, but you need to make a bunch at a time to make it cost effective. So the applications that we sell only 5 set a year of will likely never be moulded.
So yes, for next year we are going to closely review our prices. I'm not even going to speculate right now as to how much though. Just too much going on right now and concentrating on the move to look at projected cost/profit.

Just call and talk to me?
