Default exhaust manifold gasket and oil pan gasket

install is coming up.

how many of you reused both of these items? I am thinking definitely replace the oil pan gasket. what about the exh. mani?

also, i tried dropping the 2 spring loaded bolts that hold the cat to the stock b-pipe and the damn things stared to round on me...argh...any advice on how to loosen them things up? i had a socket on the nut side and a wrench on the bolt side...

I have re-used the exhaust mani gasket once. It didn't hold up that long to boost. It wasn't leaking bad either though.
I would like to know about the oil pan gasket. Mine has been on for about 2 months now.

did you reuse the original one? is there any seepage?

i reused a valve cover gasket once...it seeped for 6 months before it quit. i'll never do that again.

Do what I did and just shear the bolts in half then drill out the remaining material. Just kidding, I think the best thing to try is some kind of rust eater/loosener spray. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Good luck.

I would not re use the oil pan gasket, the manifold gasket should be checked to see if it is suitable to reuse. If it looks cracked or too worn just replace it. In general it is a good idea to never reuse gaskets, though some do without problems.

I bought new ones of everything when i did the install. Look at it this way. if it leaks with the old one, you have to take off the manifold which will become a pain in the a$$, especially if you get the greddy manifold. just do it right the first time, and you dont have to worru about that part anymore.

Now that I think of it I should not have re-used the exhaust mani gasket. It was pretty crusty. I had used it when I burnt a valve with turbo. I have a new one now and there are no smudges by the ports from leaks like before.

so far:

oil pan gasket
exhaust manifold gasket
3 more oilfilters / washers

what else?

will probly get those cooler NGK's from sparkplug.com or whatever.

Get the NGKs, i forgot if the greddy kit came with the donut ring that connects the downpipe to the Cat. Also you might want to consider a high-flowing cat right now also. i just got back from the dyno and i was only allowed to push 5 psi, because the exhaust back-up caused by the stock cat, that is what i have been told. once i get a better cat, i will be able to flow more.

yeah i am not sure what to do about the cat...i bought a 2.5" hi-flow "cat" from viren b18bturbo a few months ago but later on he was selling it as a 'resonator' so i dont even think its a cat...who knows. the air really fvcking sucks here especially this summer i dont wanna make it much worse.

Yeah the washer for the oil pan. i did not know about that and mine is barely leaking. and i dont really feel like draining my oil and buying more oil. you dont know how much oil i have bought since the greddy install. i guess i shoudl do it before i go back to CA

yeah I also have spare oil, coolant, tools and Vac lines in my trunk now.

And remember to correctly torque the oil pan bolts correctly. I guess we should be the "GReddy Mafia" FalconGSR, DeepSi and me. hehehe.

deepsi where in the hell are you losing this oil. fredo, do u burn oil? hmmm adding turbo should NOT burn more oil right?

deepsi where in the hell are you losing this oil.
Situations:
1. Oil Feed line was leaking a lot. FIXED
2. Custom Stainless Line for the Oil Return line. I used JB Weld to hold the bolt onto a flange on the turbo side. well the turbo got to hot and the jbweld melted and the return line fell off and left a oil line all the way to my house Got professionally welded. FIXED
3. The bolt on the oil pan for my for the SS Braided lines had a small leak from the inside and had to take the oil pan off to fix it.
4. The washer on the oil pan i have used like 7 times since my last oil change and the oil draining and reinstalling since the turbo install, and never knew it was suppose to be replaced, i guess it now letting very, very little oil out.

that is it. the main cause of all the oil is because i was experimenting with the SS braided lines on the Greddy return line, which very few have ventured into. but i am glad i did it, because one, only one person i knew, had his rubber line rub u against the downpipe and brun a hole in it and leaked oil everywhere and was stuck on the side of the interstate because he could not fix it.
I believe in doing it right the first time, and learn from others mistakes
what about you deep?
I have the Greddy Si kit also, It comes with the 18G. So does Fred's.

ahhh i see...so the greddy return line leaves more to be desired eh...ok. sounds like the same issue with all other kits.
