Totalled or Saveable
Hello all...A few days ago, I had a little incident which I want to see opinions on. I went out to the beach one night and was inside of a friends for a few hours....when I come out, this lady says "I hope you didnt park down that street"
ARGH...because I did park down that street. As I walked down the street I was worried, that I was going to walk into seeing my Accord broken into....what I saw was this...
quality of pic sucks
the car farther in the picture

my boo...in water....I didnt think it was that deep.wrong....WRONG
I had my friend wade through the water to get in it, and back it out. Basically what has happened, it's been raining a lot here...and the tide came in, and overflooded onto the streets. After a few minutes we got her to start....bad thing now is, the check engine light and everything is on, annnnnnd I've got white smoke coming out of the exhaust
Anywho...I took some videos of her (luckily)
here's just one if you'd like to see what I'm talking about, skip to :29 to see exhaust and you can hear the engine a little after

Before I call my lawyer
do you think she's got a chance. My claim adjuster (who did not hear or turn it on) says it is just fresh water just needs to have the carpets cleaned and shampoo'd, and I'll be A-ok. I dont think that, because it's friggin ocean water (aka saltwater) and that will eat away over time
I am getting it checked out by a shop tomorrow, but until then....love to get peoples insight

well the reason for the check engine lights is that the ecu is most likely wet. plugs connectors under the hood are wet and shorting. i think you got lucky when you started it up. there could have been water in the air filter and it could of sucked it up hydro locked the engine. its going to be tuff for you go get rid of the car after the insurance puts it as water damage salvage. no ones going to want to buy it for the same reason that its saltwater.
