Vtec not working after swap need help
I crashed my 00 civic ek coupe, had a d16y8 in it, was converted from auto to manual and was still running the auto ecu. I swapped a d15b into it, now the vtec is not working, I know I can buy a jumper harness and new ecu, but I am sort of broke after paying 2500 to fix my car. Is there anyway to fix the problem, my mechanic is saying he thinks its the ecu, but that makes no sense to me because vtec worked with the old setup, so I know the ecu isn't damaged. Obviously the check engine light would be on, but vtec should be working, any help is appreciated. Also the motor is a jdm swap so I know it was tested and what not, it isn't some joe schmo backyard pos motor.
Im willing to hardwire wiring from the ecu or something if that will fix it, I just don't want my car back after spending all that money if vtec isn't working
Yes the car runs, yes its throwing a cel because im running the stock auto ecu, so that cel code will be present until i can invest in a new ecu, yes the d15 is dual stage vtec, my mech is saying my ecu is bad for sure now cuz he used a diff ecu n vtec worked but the iac is sputtering at idle due to the two wires instead of 3, hes trying to find out if he can wire it up differently, other than that looks like im screwed til i can buy the harness and ecu unless someone knows a way to bypass or rewire it to get around this problem
