Default 1993 Honda Accord LX

Hi everyone!

Tomorrow I'm looking at picking up a 93 Accord LX coupe with the 5 speed transmission in it. Outside of a little rust here and there the car seems to be good. The car as it sits have about 283K miles on her and I do not know the past owner(s). Is there anything that I should look at before I fork over a the cash for her? Is there anything that I have to replace (outside of the normal oil change, tune up, ect)?

I'm a little worried at the miles but did some online trolling last night and heard of a number of people taking the Accords well pass 400K miles.

This is a car from a dealership so there is no paperwork for the belt.

The F series engine is a really strong set up.

But you MUST do the timing belt.

I'm picking it up tomorrow. I am going to have to do a check on the clutch before I buy it though. I've driven it once with no problems but really didn't do a true clutch test.

I have a f22a4 with 283k. It still runs strong and does not burn any oil. I just swapped it for a h22.
these engines can go it 350k easy

I paid 1500 for it.

Thanks for the link also. But it seems like that site is more for aftermarket. I just want to make this car in running order so I can drive it to work and back while keeping the miles off my of new truck.

Great find! It really makes me miss mine.

It's not as major as the timing belt, but you'll want to check each spark plug for oil or oil residue. The seals in the spark plug tubes tend to dry out, and you'll lose some oil. Felpro makes a kit with the spark plug tube seals, the valve cover gasket, and the valve cover bolt seals, all for about $25. It's a couple hours of work, but it's worth it.

Yea it had an oil leak there. Replaced the gasket and did a complete tune up on it.
