HElP! gsr idle issues

Default HElP! gsr idle issues

i have a 97 gsr that is having idle problems. the only time the car idles at 800 is when my brights are on. so when my lights are off or on dim the car idles very roughly at 500. mods are full exhaust and thats all. thinking something electrical. changed plugs wires distributor cap and rotor and still no help. please help me! thanks

Check all your ground and power wires. Clean them up and check for tightness.

Poor grounds is the most common problem that comes to our shop, if it's electrical and doing "weird" things, [even if the weird thing is not electrical, like the idle] it is almost always a grounding issue.

Even if it is not, redoing your main grounds and any others you can find is the first step, [and cheapest] in diagnosing a problem, eliminate the simple things first and as mentioned even if grounding is not the problem it can not hurt to redo the grounds especially the main grounds, [batt., batt to chassis and chassis to engine]. 94

The PO of my '96 GS-R claims that he cleaned he cleaned all three ground connections just a few months ago, but my car idles in the 500-550rpm region. However it isn't rough, the engine doesn't sound like it wants to die or anything, it just seems to sit low. Anything to worry about?
